Well Being Tip No 2 - Walking
Now that you have learned to release stress through breathing in and out slowly and deeply, here is another simple but effective way of feeling good.
Movement stimulates the circulation and lymphatic system, and prevents sluggishness in the body, which can affect your thinking. You don’t have to move in an energetic way to achieve this.
Walking is free, doesn’t put stress on your body, and you can do it any time. It helps to clear the mind, eliminate toxins from the body, and allows you to breath in fresh air, as well as helping to tone the legs and bum!
Walking allows you to take time out from stressful situations, if you are angry you can get rid off this negative energy and feel calmer.
How often should you walk?
Try to walk at least once a day, for 20 to 30 minutes if possible. Twice a day is even better, giving you an hour of exercise and fresh air every day. Make one of your walks during daylight as a bonus – light will make you feel happier.
Do whatever you can manage if you can’t fit this into your day – walk to the local shops instead of jumping into the car, go for a walk in your lunch break, take the dog out for a bit longer, it all adds up.
Combine the breathing exercise with walking, and you will see the benefits straight away – you will feel more energised, lighter and happier.
So – if you feel down, sluggish, tense or overwhelmed – take time out, go for a walk, breath in and out slowly and deeply, its simple, free and it works.
